1995 DC Comics : Pepsi Cards

In 1995, DC Comics and Pepsi released a collection of Spanish-language trading cards in Mexico. The DC Pepsi Cards series is comprised of 100 base cards, 12 foil "Metalicas" inserts, and 5 "Hologramas" inserts. Each box contains 50 packs with 5 cards per pack. A collector album binder was sold separately. The collector album and pack artwork feature The Flash painted by Hector Gomez.

 

The DC Pepsi Cards series features artwork that was originally commissioned by SkyBox International. Cards #1–85 reprint images from the 1994 SkyBox Master Series: DC Comics Edition. Cards #86–100 reprint illustrations from the 1994 Batman: Saga of the Dark Knight. The Pepsi Cards cards do not contain the gold-foil text featured on the SkyBox releases. The card text descriptions are printed in Spanish. Some character names have been translated or altered.

 

Base card #1 features Superman painted by John Estes. The Estes painting is also featured on a "Hologramas" insert.

 

The foil "Metalicas" insert set features paintings of Superman and Doomsday by Tom Fleming. Both paintings are featured on a Double-Sided Spectra insert in Master Series: DC Comics Edition.

 

Uncut factory sheets and color test proofs from SkyBox Master Series: DC Comics Edition were released to the public by Fleer/SkyBox International.

 

In 1994, Pepsi released a set of Marvel trading cards featuring illustrations reprinted from the '94 Flair Marvel Universe Inaugural Edition from Fleer.
