The Battle of the Century
The DC versus Marvel Comics crossover trading card set was released by
Fleer/SkyBox International
on December 13, 1995. The card text was written by Ron Marz. Hobby boxes
contain 36 packs of 10 cards, plus an
Amalgam Comics
preview card. Retail boxes contain 36 packs of 8 cards. The retail Jumbo Box
contains 24 packs of 11 cards. A DC versus Marvel Comics voting ballot
is included in each retail pack. The series was released with Spanish text in
Peru.
"Superman vs. Hulk" was painted by Glen Orbik. "Superman vs. Hulk" appears on
base card #1 and "Holo F/X" insert card #6/12. The odds of finding a "Holo
F/X" insert card are approximately 1:8 packs. The insert contains a minuscule
amount of holographic foil in the cape. "Superman vs Hulk" also appears on 5 x
7 inch panels that were included with every 50-box case sold by Sam's Club and
Wal-Mart.

Card #26 is an image of Superman flying over Xavier's School for Gifted
Youngsters. Superman was penciled by Stuart Immonen, inked by José Marzan,
Jr., and colored by Electric Pickle.

Card #80 depicts a fight between Superman and Juggernaut. The "Battles" card
was penciled by Stuart Immonen, inked by José Marzan, Jr., and colored by
Electric Crayon.

The odds of finding an "Impact" insert are approximately 1:2 Hobby Box packs
or 1:4 Jumbo Box packs. The "Justice League of America versus The Avengers"
cards were painted by Boris Vallejo. "X-Men versus the Teen Titans" cards were
painted by Julie Bell.
Two lenticular "Mirage" inserts feature a shifting image of
Amalgam Comics
characters Spider-Boy or Dark Claw. The odds of finding a "Mirage" insert
are approximately 1:360 packs.
DC versus Marvel Comics cards were showcased in the January 1996
issue of Tuff Stuff's Collect! magazine. The cover features "Superman
vs. Hulk" painted by Glen Orbik.

Amalgam Comics preview cards are inserted into every Hobby Box pack.
Amalgam Comics Trading Cards
were released by Fleer/SkyBox on February 28, 1996. Amalgam Comics was a
joint publishing venture between DC and Marvel Comics. The imprint combined
popular characters from both studios into a new universe. Superman and
Captain America were merged into a new hero named Super-Soldier. Amalgam
characters appeared in 24 comic books published from 1996–1998.
