1968 Pop-nytt TV Pussel : Black Number Series

Svarta Nummerserien, or Svarta Popnummerserien (Black Number Pop Series) is identified by the black rectangle numbering format on the front of the cards. The 78-card set is often mislabeled as a Dutch gum release. The text on the packaging and cards is printed in Swedish. The cards measure approximately 1.75 x 2.75 inches (4.45 x 7 cm), smaller than a standard size trading card. The cards are packaged in a die-cut envelope sealed with cellophane tape. Each pack contains eight "TV Pussel" trading cards.

Superman (Stålmannen) appears on four cards in this series. The same artwork is printed on cards #24 and #63. The original image is from the cover of Superman #196 (May 1967). The cover was penciled by Curt Swan and inked by George Klein.

Superman and Batman (Stålmannen och Läderlappen) are featured on cards #28 and #67. The artwork is poorly copied from the cover of World's Finest Comics #163 (December 1966). The cover was penciled by Curt Swan and inked by George Klein.

Superboy (Stålpojken) appears on cards #21 and #60. The Superboy image is from the cover of Superboy #135 (January 1967). The cover was penciled by Curt Swan and inked by George Klein.

The images on cards 1-39 are reprinted on cards 40-78. The card backs contain puzzle pieces that form a 78-card polyptych image of The Beatles. The puzzle image is from the video of "I Am the Walrus" featured in the 1967 Magical Mystery Tour film. Uncut sheets of the puzzle were distributed to the public.

Popp Nytt was also a music and popular culture magazine published by Bok og Blad A/S in Stavanger, Norway. The magazine was sold in Scandinavia from February 1965 until late 1968.

The "Black Square" used to catalog this set is printed over a previous numbering format that is visible on many cards. The packaging and format is similar to the 1968 Popbilder and 1977 Dina Idoler releases from Sweden. Svarta Popnummerserien cards do not contain any date, licensing information, or branding.
